Court Interpreter Complaints

The Court Interpreter Certification & Regulation Program (CICRP) is committed to removing barriers that prohibit equal access to justice by individuals with limited English proficiency. The CICRP investigates all complaints involving Florida spoken language court interpreters, as defined under rule 14.100(a).

Filing a Complaint

Any person knowledgeable of a court interpreter who violates the Code of Professional Conduct, as contained in Part III of the Florida Rules for Certification & Regulation of Spoken Language Court InterpretersPDF Download (page 13), or any standard promulgated under these Rules, can file a complaint against the court interpreter. Incidents occurring before, during or after court interpreting may be reported.

All complaints must be filed with the Court Interpreter Certification and Regulation Program. Complaints must be submitted in writing under oath using the Interpreter Grievance Report Form.PDF Download

NOTE: Complaints received more than two years prior to the date the alleged incident will not be accepted.

Disciplinary Proceedings

Your complaint will be referred to the applicable investigative committee of the Court Interpreter Certification Board. Please see rules 14.400 - 14.460, Florida Rules for Certification and Regulation of Spoken Language Court Interpreters, for the procedurePDF Download which will be followed regarding this complaint matter. Pursuant to rule 14.440, all records of this complaint are exempt from public disclosure and shall remain confidential until a finding of probable cause or no probable cause is established.
